Using drip irrigation to water plants in this area keeps the plants healthy without putting your outdoor unit at risk for rust.

Build for Beauty and Efficiency

A decorative fence is one of the simplest ways to hide your outdoor HVAC unit and it requires next to no maintenance. Take time choosing your fence style and color to find one that fits with your home and garden. A fence that clashes only attracts attention to the unit.

Build a fence higher than the unit and you can use the additional space to hang garden tools. For even more storage space, consider building a structure around the unit with an incorporated storage area on top. Structures like this also shade the unit, boosting its efficiency. Design the structure to allow at least 5 feet of clearance over the unit for proper airflow.

If you’re planning to redesign your garden, help your outdoor unit blend in by creating another focal point, such as a statue, fountain, or specimen plant. Plan your pathways and greenery to direct the eye toward that focal point and away from the outdoor unit.
